ALEX HONNOLD

CLIMBER | FREE SOLOIST | VAN DWELLER

Alex has become synonymous with Free Soloing. He’s known for his impressive ropeless ascents of some of the worlds biggest walls, impressive onsights, and first ascents. He spends most of his time travelling from crag to crag in the 2002 Ford Econoline Minivan he calls home.

Climbing, for Alex, began when he was 11 years old and he hasn’t been able to stop since. Keep an eye out, you never know when he might show up at your local climbing spot.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live in a van? Where do you store things? How do you stay powered? What do you do when you need a bathroom? Professional rock climber Alex Honnold takes us through the van that he calls home. His 2002 Ford Econoline E150 serves as his bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, gym, and storage room. It has racked up over 170,000 miles and still “trucks along quite nicely”, according to Honnold. Watch the video below and learn how he turned his van into a home, it might just inspire you to do the same.
